R.), officially named, very fine or better, a scarce combination (5) Estimate £ 450-550 1464 Company Sergeant Major Alfred Walter Snell, born Islington, London; joined 11th Battalion London Regiment (T.F.), 25.6.1912; served during the Great War with the regiment in the Gallipoli Theatre of War from, 10.8.1915; served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 29.7.1915-16.7.1916; served with the regiment in Sudan, 1916 (medal forwarding slip gives Khedive´s Sudan Medal only, but M.I.C. correctly gives Sudan Medal with ´Darfur 1916´ clasp); discharged July 1916; re-enlisted as No. 49227 162nd Brigade Machine Gun Corps, 17.7.1916 and served in the 54th Battalion M.G.C. with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, 17.7.1916-9.6.1919 (wounded 4.11.1917); discharged 7.8.1919.
