Four: Sick Berth Attendant C. Bradshaw, Royal Navy Crimea 1854-56, two clasps, Sebastopol, Azoff (C. Bradshaw, Royal Navy), neatly and contemporarily engraved in upright serif capitals; Abyssinia 1867-68 (C. Bradshaw Sick Bth. Attt. H.M.S. Spiteful), suspension re-affixed, solder repair to central post, edge bruise; Ashantee 1873-74 (C. Bradshaw, Sk. Bth. Attdt. H.M.S. Encounter. 73-74), partly officially corrected; Turkish Crimea, British die, with contemporary silver straight bar suspension, generally very fine or better (4) Estimate £ 450-500 Charles Bradshaw, born Bethnal Green, Middlesex, 1837; joined Royal Navy as Boy 1st Class, 1854; served during the Crimea War in H.M.S. Swallow, in operations in the Black Sea, including on 13.3.1855, the attack on the Russian guns at Soujak Kaleh on the Cicassian Coast; in operations in the Sea of Azoff, including the attack on Kertch 24.5.1855; present in the attack on Genitchi 27.6.1855, the attack on Fort Petrovski, 16.7.1855 and on Glorfira, the following day; the destruction of fishing boats at Crooked Spit; Ordinary Seaman 1858 and Sick Berth Attendant later that year; served in H.M.S. Spiteful during the Abyssinian Campaign 1867-68 and in operations in the Arabian Gulf, 1868, which saw the capture and destruction of six pirate vessels and rescue of 200 slaves; served during the Ashantee Campaign 1873-74 in H.M.S. Encounter, in operations between 28.10.1873-31.1.1874, including the bombardment of a village at Alboaddi Point; further postings included in two Flag Ships - H.M.S. Duke of Wellington and H.M.S. Royal Adelaide respectively.
