Straits Settlements Covers and Cancellations 1953 (11 Nov.) picture postcard (Raffles Hotel) to England, bearing GB 2 1/2d. tied by "f.p.o./985" c.d.s., showing framed "mislaid mail/delay regretted" in violet and label from British Post Office requesting return of the item with "home postal depot r.e./12" double-ring d.s. (20.11) partly affixed over adhesive. Most unusual. Estimate S$ 300-400 Note: An Army Sergeant was court-martialled for hiding 95,000 letters in 55 bags. Most were mails from servicemen on their way to Korea. Few covers have survived as the addressees were asked to return them as court evidence, and later destroyed.
