STRAITS SETTLEMENTS Indian Stamps used in the Straits Settlements 1854 Lithograph Issue Penang 1854 (18 Dec.) entire to Bordeaux, marked "Overland via Marseilles", bearing 2a. green horizontal pair with large margins clearly cancelled by diamond of dots, showing red crayon "11" and manuscript "90", Marseilles entry d.s. in red and, on reverse across join, fine boxed "penang/Post Paid" d.s. in red and Alexandria transit d.s. in blue. A neat and most attractive franking. This is a very early use of the 2 annas as they were only issued in the Straits sometime at the end of November.
