x Malaya 1857 (12 Jan.) entire letter from Batavia to Amsterdam, carried privately to Singapore, marked "Per Overland mail via Triest", bearing India 1855 blued paper 8a. carmine pair on blue glazed paper cancelled "B/172", showing boxed "6 1/4" overstruck by boxed "7 1/4", both in blue, and on reverse oval-framed "forwarded by williams anthon & co" f.a.c., "singapore/p.o." c.d.s. and arrival d.s., all in red; the entire with some wear and splitting along folds.
