Australia, Assay Office, Adelaide Pound, 8.753g., 1852, type I, large crown over date within crenellated border, government assay office adelaide around, rev. value one pound within double ring, beaded circle within the rings, weight 5 dwt; 15 grs: / 22 carats around, usual die crack to left of dwt; fine reeding on edge (A.724; F.1; KM.1; Mcd.p.36), good very fine / about very fine, this first issue extremely rare Estimate £ 25,000-30,000 The reverse die cracked shortly after production was started. The second type was then issued, with a crenellated border on both sides. As a result the first type is extremely rare - it is estimated that approximately 20-50 examples exist.
