James I third coinage, 1619-1625, Crown, 29.24g, m.m. lis, king, shouldering sword, on caparisoned horse moving to right on ground-line with grass, rev. garnished square shield without plumes (N.2120; S.2664), attractively toned, edge has been smoothed, small edge pinch by H of HIB, flatness on shoulder, minor die crack in exergue on obverse and minor die flaw in field to right of shield on reverse, otherwise extremely fine Estimate £ 2,500-2,800 provenance H M Lingford, Glendining, 24 October 1950, lot 62 E Van Roekel, Spink auction 156, 15 November 2001, lot 14
