x British Columbia and Vancouver Island Express Company Mail Wells, Fargo Express Company 1871 6c. brown envelope with "For Great Britain and Ireland" h.s. vertically at left and showing oval-framed "wells, fargo & co/victoria" d.s. in blue for 11 February, uprated with 1869 perf. 12 1/2 5c. red, and used as a "paste-up" to England, upon receipt subsequently re-used from Folkstone to Edward Mallandaine at Government House, Victoria and bearing 3d. rose Plate 6 cancelled with "303" duplex dated 27 March, showing manuscript "2" (due) and with "insufficiently/stamped" h.s. tying the 5c. adhesive, London c.d.s. (28.3) on reverse; the envelope with repair at top though full of character and believed to be the only known cover travelling the reverse direction from England with a British Columbia. Photo
