British Columbia and Vancouver Island Postal History United States Frankings 1866 (8 Jan.) envelope (fractionally truncated at right) ex the Simmons correspondence, purportedly from the Caribou, to Elgin County, Canada, bearing British Columbia 1865 3d. blue strip of three twice cancelled "10" and in combination with U.S.A. 1861-66 10c. green tied by cogwheel cancellation, also showing "paid" h.s., San Francisco transit c.d.s. (17.2) and oval-framed "U.S. 1- cents./paid" h.s. in red, the reverse with British Columbia G.P.O. c.d.s. (7.1) and Aylmer arrival c.d.s. (15.3). A rare combination franking.
