x Canada Registration Stamps 1878 (17 July) firm´s corner advertising envelope from Hamilton and addressed locally, bearing 2c. orange and Small Queen 1c. yellow sharing "registered/hamilton" oval d.s., marked "Unclaimed" in blue crayon on reverse and with crude "hand" indicator below sender´s address, various sets of registration numbers in blue crayon and with a further similar oval d.s. for 17 August alongside; the envelope with small corner fault though an unusual item of registered mail returned to sender directly, contravening the regulation that Undelivered Registered Letters were to be sent to the Dead Letter Office for return.
