Hong Kong - Treaty Port 1863 envelope with letter headed "Foochow 21 Oct 1862" to London, marked "Via Southampton", showing Hong Kong framed "paid" with red crayon "1/-" and "11" and London Paid arrival datestamps for 19th and 20th January alongside, all in red, and showing on reverse Hong Kong transit d.s. in blue (25.10) overstruck by superb framed "Saved from the wreck of/the Colombo."; the addressed panel with central thin, address partially faded and some slight soiling nevertheless in a good state of preservation as the mail was in the water for three months. Although the "Colombo" picked up some China mail, all examples are particularly scarce, with this cover believed to be the only example known emanating from Foochow.
