Wreck Covers 1869 (7 Aug.) S.S. "Germania", ran aground in Freshwater Cove, Trepassey, Newfoundland, U.S. 3c. rose envelope from New York to Germany, cancelled with cork obliterator and New York Paid c.d.s. with boxed "hamburg/franco" d.s. alongside, the reverse bearing two-line label (tear towards left) in German which translates as "Recovered from the sunken mail steamship Germania", arrival c.d.s.
