"Germania", ran aground in Freshwater Cove, Trepassey, Newfoundland, U.S. 3c. rose envelope from New York to Germany, cancelled with cork obliterator and New York Paid c.d.s. with boxed "hamburg/franco" d.s. alongside, the reverse bearing two-line label (tear towards left) in German which translates as "Recovered from the sunken mail steamship Germania", arrival c.d.s. (25.8) alongside. Rare. Photo
