x USA 1847 Issue 5c. red-brown on blued paper, a superb four margined example in a rich shade, tied to registered cover by black circular grid cancellation, straight line "registered" in black at left and blue "R" marking (registration at this period was paid in cash) with manuscript ´25´ (cents) below "wilkes barre/pa" c.d.s. in black. An exceptionally fine and rare cover, one of the first covers found showing registration during the first issue period. Ex Klein (1940) and the collection of William L. Moody (Part One, Lot 79).
