x Germany 1922-23, a five frame exhibit of German inflation period with the collapse of the deutchmark before the revaluation to the rentenmark, during this period the postal rates were increased eighteen times and the collection exhibits a fine selection of covers and cards showing the different rates for local, provincial and foreign for printed matter, post cards and letter plus several registered and express, some showing multiple frankings using older stamps to make up the new rates and includes 1922 (Dec.) underfranked cover to Italy with Postage Due, Charity pair on local registered Hamburg cover, 1923 (Jan.) advertising card to Canada, 1923 Relief Fund with 20m.+ 1000m. on covers (2), 1923 (June) post card to Canada with 60m. meter mark, later meter marks (3), under paid cards to France, England, Sweden and Czechoslovakia with Postage Dues, some postal stationery, illustrated commercial covers and cards, cash paid cards (5) and covers (2) with rate in manuscript, zig-zag roulette 10Md. on 20M. (8) on cover front, later rate covers include 50Md. light blue (11) on two covers (during the five day period 26-30 November post offices sold stamps at four times face value to overcome the problems of using a large number of stamps to pay the high rates, on cover represents a 1,920,000,000,000m. rate). A comprehensive collection with some extraordinary frankings and would make an ideal basis for further study and development of this challenging period of German philately. (193 covers)
