Punniar Star 1843 (Brigdr. D. Harnolt. (sic) 2nd Brigde. of Cavalry Army of Exercise), extremely fine, with old replacement riveted backstrap and ring and straight bar suspension Estimate £ 380-420 Colonel David Harriott, C.B. (1788-1851), born Great Stambridge, Essex; Cadet 1803; posted as Cornet 5th Native Cavalry, 1803, he served with the latter in the 3rd Maharatta War; Lieutenant 1808; Captain 1818; Major 1829; Lieutenant-Colonel 1834; transferred to the 10th Light Cavalry, 1835 and transferred again later that year to the 6th Light Cavalry; appointed to Command as Brigadier of the Three Brigades of Cavalry of the "Army of Sutlej", 1845 and served during the 1st Sikh War with the 8th Light Cavalry at Ferozeshuhur (C.B. 1846; entitled to medal); was a native of Cheltenham in later life and is buried in Christ Church.
