Six: Captain F.G. ´Huck´ Hucklesby, Intelligence Corps 1939-1945 Star; Africa Star, with 8th Army Bar; Italy Star; War and Defence Medals, in this order; General Service 1918-62, G.VI.R., one clasp, Palestine 1945-48 (Capt. F.G. Hucklesby. Int. Corps.), renamed in sans serif capitals, very fine, mounted for wear, with a framed oil painting of the recipient, signed T.R., dated 1946; a large framed portrait photograph and a large archive of original documentation including letters, photographs taken during Hucklesby´s service, two passports and the recipient´s driving licence (lot) Estimate £ 120-160 Captain Frederic George ´Huck´ Hucklesby, born 1908; commissioned Second Lieutenant Intelligence Corps, 8.4.1941; Lieutenant 1.10.1942; posted to Combined Services Detailed Interrogation Centre, Ma´adi Camp, Egypt, ´CSDIC was a strange outfit. All the officers were multi-linguists, and were ostensibly interrogators, but there were some who used to disappear for days on end. We never asked what they did, and we were never told. ´Huck´ was one of these. We knew that he had been recruited locally, that he had lived either in Egypt or in Palestine, and that he spoke most of the local languages.´ (Letter included in lot refers); after the War Hucklesby became a languages teacher at Edgehill College from 1959.
