Three: Air Mechanic 1st Class A.J.W. Borroff, Royal Air Force, Late Royal Flying Corps 1914-15 Star (5737 2.A.M. A.J. Borroff. R.F.C.); British War and Victory Medals (5737. 1. A.M. A.J. Borroft (sic) R.A.F.), extremely fine, with three original named card boxes of issue The group with a quantity of original documents &c. including: - Certificate of Transfer to the Reserve - Protection Certificate - Certificate of Proficiency in Radiotelegraphy - Certificate of Employment during the War; City and Guilds Certificate in Magnetism and Electricity; three photographs and copied service papers with summary of career (3) Estimate £ 110-130 5737 Air Mechanic 1st Class Anthony James William Borroff (1898-1977), born Blackheath, London; employed by the Civil Service as a "Learner" with the General Post Office, 1.7.1914; enlisted as Air Mechanic 2nd Class Royal Flying Corps, 27.5.1915; the Royal Flying Corps arranged for him to continue with his studies which he had commenced with the G.P.O. and he was sent to train at Aldershot and Weybridge before obtaining his certificate of Proficiency in Radiotelegraphy, 17.8.1915; posted as Air Mechanic 1st Class 16 Squadron, France and served in the French Theatre of War 11.10.1915-9.2.1919; during the latter part of the war he was posted to HQ 12 Wing, Northern France, before being discharged, 14.3.1919; after the war Borroff returned to work for the G.P.O., attaining the position of Superintendent before his retirement in 1958.
