A Rare and Most Interesting Bletchley Park Hut 3 Codebreaker´s Group of Six to Major E.C. Cousens, Intelligence Corps, Late Royal Air Force and Royal Naval Reserve 1914-15 Star (Wts. 49. E.C. Cousens, W.T.O., R.N.R.); British War and Victory Medals (2/Lieut. E.C. Cousens. R.A.F.); 1939-1945 Star; Defence and War Medals, good very fine or better, mounted for display (6) Estimate £ 250-300 Major Edward Claude Cousens, born 1892; served during the Great War as a Wireless Telegraphy Officer, Royal Naval Reserve before transferring to the Royal Air Force as a Second Lieutenant (Technical Officer), 24.9.1918; posted to Artillery Observation School; demobilised at Port Said, Egypt, 8.4.1919; re-engaged for the Second World War as Second Lieutenant, Intelligence Officer, No. 4 Intelligence School (7.2.1940), the latter being the covername for Army personnel commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel J.H. Tiltman, Government Code and Cipher School, Bletchley Park; Cousens was Head of Hut 3 Liaison Party for Hut 6 Intercept Control Section, ´So to Hut 3, for it was here where some of the earliest decrypting took place and where the sorting and prioritizing of messages was carried out. All the major events during nearly six years of conflict were known about by the teams of staff working from Hut 3, whether in its original location or, as it grew, from all its other locations throughout various buildings on the Park.
