R.F.C.), extremely fine, and rare, with Pilot´s Flying Log Book Army 425 Type (25.10.1916-15.1.1917), professionally restored; Soldier´s Pay Book, professionally restored; a small metalled control light-panel taken from the aircraft he crashed in November 1916, officially stamped ´Mark III Aeroplane Dashboard Lighting, A.P. Lundberg and Sons, London N.´; six wartime photographs including scenes from Brooklands Military Hospital, where Jackson was taken after his crash and a letter from a Belgian Soldier, dated 10.11.1915 (lot) Estimate £ 640-680 Chief Technician Wilfred Nicholas Jackson, born Birmingham, 1889; enlisted Air Mechanic 2nd Class Royal Flying Corps, 14.8.1914; served with the Royal Flying Corps in the French Theatre of War, 6.10.1914-21.6.1916; Air Mechanic 1st Class 1.11.1915; in 1916 Jackson successfully applied for Pilot training, however, he was injured and hospitalised when he crashed on his first solo flight suffering concussion and a broken rib, 22.12.1916; after a period of recuperation he resumed his training, 22.12.1916, but did not qualify for his "Wings"; Corporal 1.5.1917; Sergeant 1.10.1917; advanced Chief Technician Royal Air Force, 1.4.1918.
