Pair: Major E.A. Swinhoe, Supply and Transport Corps, Late 3rd Dragoon Guards China 1900, no clasp (Captn. E.A. Swinhoe S&T Corps), correctly engraved in running script; Africa General Service 1902-56, E.VII.R., one clasp, Somaliland 1902-04 (Capt: E.A. Swinhoe. S.&T. Corps), good very fine, with photographic image of recipient (2) Estimate £ 380-420 Major Edmund Arthur Swinhoe; born Calcutta, India, 1870; educated at Cheltenham College, 1883-97 and R.M.C. Sandhurst; commissioned Second Lieutenant 3rd Light Dragoons, 1889; subsequently transferred to the Indian Army and was posted as Lieutenant Supply and Transport Corps, 1892; Captain 1900; Major 1907; with the outbreak of the Great War Swinhoe was on leave in England and went to France with the drafts for a short period before returning to his unit in India, where he served for the remainder of the conflict; died of pneumonia at Sialkote, 27.10.1918, and is buried in the Sialkote East Cemetery, he is also commemorated in the Chapel at Sandhurst.
