Inglis. Glouc: Rgt:); 1914-15 Star (Lieut. L. Inglis. 4/K.A.Rif.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaves (Major L. Inglis.), very fine or better, mounted as originally worn, with photograph of recipient serving in the Cheltenham Home Guard, 1942 (4) Estimate £ 320-350 Major Lionel Inglis, born 1882; commissioned Second Lieutenant 4th (Militia) Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, 1899; transferred to hold a Regular commission with the 2nd Battalion, 5.1.1901; after a brief period of retirement Inglis re-engaged for service in the Great War; Temporary Lieutenant 4th (Uganda) Battalion, King´s African Rifles, and in the East African Theatre of War from 25.8.1914; Temporary Captain 8.4.1916; Temporary Major 21.8.1919 (M.I.D. London Gazette 31.1.1919); after the War he was a resident of Cheltenham and became a serving member of it´s Home Guard during the Second World War. Inglis is listed on roll as entitled to all clasps on Q.S.A. except ´South Africa 1901´.
