Sig. R.F.R.), BWM & VM worn, otherwise very fine or better, mounted as originally worn, with Mediterranean Fleet Rifle Meeting bronze medal, with Fleet Rifle Challenge Cup clasp, reverse impressed ´J64446 F R Hiden Sig RN Royal Oak´, with top riband bar, engraved ´1927´; (2) bronze Chatham Port Rifle & Revolver Meeting medals; Letter of Notification of Presentation of B.E.M., dated March 1957; original parchment Certificate of Service, 5.1.1917-12.9.1946; a framed "Crossing the Line" Certificate, dated 21.2.1924 "Domain of Neptunus Rex", when H.M.S. Hawkins was bound for Batavia from Singapore, a book Crossing The Line in H.M.S. Hawkins February, 1924; and a leather covered photograph album containing approximately 200 photographs of Royal Navy, foreign naval and passenger ships and submarines during the period 1923-26 in the Far East (lot) Estimate £ 240-280 Francis Roland Hiden, B.E.M., born Birmingham, 1900; enlisted in the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class, and was posted to H.M.S. Impregnable (training establishment), 5.1.1917; Ordinary Signalman 19.10.1918; served in H.M.S. Hawkins, 29.3.1923-3.2.1926 and in H.M.S. Royal Oak 23.6.1927-26.11.1929; transferred Royal Fleet Reserve, 1930; served during the Second World War at H.M.S. Tamar (Hong Kong), 21.8.1939-18.11.1941 and at the Engineering base H.M.S. Sultan, 19.11.1942; discharged 12.9.1946; after the War Hiden worked with the Post Office as an Overseer and was presented with his B.E.M, 19.3.1957, by The Lord Lieutenant For Warwickshire Air Commodore, The Lord Willoughby De Broke, M.C., A.F.C.
