A Cavalry Officer´s Barrel Sash An extremely rare early 19th Century crimson sash, made to circle the waist three times, with two sets of barrels on each turn (some strands broken, tightening-cord now missing) See illustration Note: This type of all-crimson barrel sash appears frequently in Robert Dighton Jnr´s drawings of cavalry officers circa 1805 (See portrait of James Jones, 22nd Light Dragoons 1807, Plate 292 in Miller & Dawnay "Military Drawings and Paintings in the Royal Collection"). It is highly probable that this sash was worn with the Fife Yeomanry jacket at Lot 59. Estimate £ 100-150
