Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (214262 2.Cpl. R. Hamilton. R.E.), nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 300-400 D.C.M. London Gazette 11.3.1920 214262 2/Cpl. R. Hamilton, "G" Spec. Coy., R.E. (Bromley). ´For great gallantry and presence of mind in a gas projector operation against Aubencheul-au-Bac on the night of 2/3rd October, 1918. One of the batteries failed to fire, and he immediately set to work on the electrical wires in order to render the battery effective. Heavy enemy fire twice broke the wires, but he succeeded in repairing them.´ 214262 2 Corporal R. Hamilton, D.C.M., served Royal West Kent Regiment; Suffolk Regiment; and Royal Engineers, and is entitled to a British War and Victory Medal.
