Nicholls, Welsh Guards, Who Was Killed in Action in the Final Advance towards Bavai and Mauberge, 6.11.1918, The Regiment´s Last Action of the War Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque ´Austin Nicholls´, light verdigris, very fine, with copy of service papers Estimate £ 100-120 3765 Guardsman Austin Nicholls, born Bromsgrove, Worcestershire; joined Army Reserve 6.12.1915; mobilized and posted Welsh Guards 9.3.1917; served during the Great War with the regiment in the French Theatre of War, 18.9.1917-6.11.18; Nicholls was serving with the 1st Battalion on the latter date, when he was killed in action in the final advance towards Bavai and Mauberge, 6.11.1918, this was the Welsh Guards´ last action of the War, they suffered 94 casualties. Mauberge was taken the day before the Armistice was announced. Nicholls is buried in Mauberge-Centre Cemetery, France.
