Gds.) b) British War and Victory Medals (3275 Pte. R.F. Charnley. W. Gds.), nearly extremely fine, with copy of service papers (3) Estimate £ 1,200-1,400 M.M London Gazette 23.7.1918 3275 Pte. Charnley, R.F., 1st Bn. (Clitheroe). 3275 Guardsman Robert Fort Charnley, M.M., born Clitheroe, Lancashire; joined Army Reserve 30.8.1916; mobilized and posted Welsh Guards, 10.10.1916; served during the Great War with the Regiment in the French Theatre of War, 19.3.1917-27.1919; transferred Army Reserve 12.11.1919. Charnley won his Military Medal on 6.11.1918, in the final advance towards Bavai and Mauberge. This was the Welsh Guards´ last action of the War, during which they suffered 94 casualties. Mauberge was taken the day before the Armistice was announced. 1 of 146 Military Medals awarded to the Welsh Guards during the Great War.
