Surrey Regt.), minor edge bruise, therefore nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 220-250 1537 Sergeant Edward Walter Freeman, born Bermondsey, Surrey, 1867; enlisted in the Royal West Surrey Regiment, 9.10.1885; served in India, 7.10.1887- 23.2.1894; Promoted Lance Corporal 24.4.1891; to Reserve, 6.3.1894; re-engaged, 19.7.1897; served in South Africa 2.3.1900- 7.6.1902; Sergeant 27.11.1901; slightly wounded at Vakfontein, near Boshoff, 16.2.1902 (entry in Casualty roll under 1537 T. (sic) Freeman); discharged 2.8.1902 after 16 years and 298 days with the colours. Clasps confirmed.
