Military General Service 1793-1814, five clasps, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Toulouse (John Morle, Capt. 2nd. Foot.), lightly lacquered, extremely fine Estimate £ 2,000-2,200 Captain John Morle, Ensign by Purchase, August 1808; Ensign, 2nd Foot, 4.9.1809; took part in Sir John Moore´s retreat on Corunna 1808-09, and was present at the siege of Flushing 1809; took part in the battles of Vittoria; Pampeluna, Nivelle, Nive, and Toulouse including various outpost actions; Captain by Purchase, September 1803; appointed to the 3rd West India Regiment, April 1819; he died at Brixton, London, October 1862. His service at Pampeluna confirms the clasp Pyrenees, not given on the medal roll. Provenance: Glendinings, March 1993.
