Foot.), edge bruise, nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 1,300-1,500 Corporal William Courtney, born Maidstone, Kent, 1782 ;enlisted in the 2nd Foot, August 1798; he is noted as being made a Prisoner of War by the French on the retreat from Burgos, Spain, 17-20.11.1812 (The History of the Second, or Queen´s Royal Regiment, now the Queen´s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment refers); he was discharged as being ´worn out and in general bad health´ after almost 26 years´ service, May 1824.
