A Fine Cavalry Early Afghanistan and Indian Campaign Group of Four to Corporal H. Hart, 3rd Light Dragoons, Late 16th Lancers Ghuznee 1839 (Henry Hart 16th Lancers), edge engraved in upright serif capitals, with early, but later steel clip and straight bar suspension; Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Private Henry Hart H.M. 16th Lancers), with brass hook and later steel split ring suspension; Sutlej for Aliwal 1845-46, one clasp, Sobraon (Hy. Hart 16th Lancers); Punjab 1848-49, two clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (H. Hart, 3rd Lt. Dragns), light contact marks throughout, therefore very fine or better (4) Estimate £ 1,700-2,000 1593 Corporal Henry Hart, born Deal, Kent; joined 16th Lancers, 1834; served in Afghanistan 1838-39, and at the assault and capture of Ghuznee, also present at the actions of Maharajpoor; Aliwal; Sobraon; Ramnugger (22.11.1846); the passage of the Scherab (2.12.1848); Sadoolapore (3.12.1848); and at Chilianwala and Goojerat. Hart transferred to the 3rd Light Dragoons, 1846 and was Court Martialled in 1854, having taken leave without permission for six days, during which period he ´lost by neglect or made away with or pawned his medals´ (Service Papers refer). He was sentenced to 42 days´ hard labour, and his pay was stopped until the medals were returned. Corporal 1858; discharged 1859, after 24 years and 223 days service.
