Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (Lieut. P.L. Williams. E/4th R.A.), nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 180-220 Captain Pierson Locke Williams (1855-1889), educated at Cheltenham College and R.M.A. Woolwich, 1873-75; Lieutenant Royal Artillery 1875; posted "E" Battery 4th Brigade Station at Multan, September 1878 and arrived at Kandahar as part of the 2nd (Quetta) Division, January 1879; served with "M" Battery "A" Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, Secunderabad, December 1881-September 1884; Captain 1884; Battery Captain 4th Battery 1st Brigade South Irish Division, Garrison Artillery, Portsmouth, December 1884; posted back to India and served as Battery Captain 2nd Battery 1st Brigade Scottish Division Garrison Artillery, Murree, September-1887-February 1889; and was with the latter as part of the Hazara Field Force against the Black Mountain Tribes (entitled to Medal and clasp). Williams changed his name to Williams-Foote, September 1887.
