South Africa 1877-79, one clasp, 1879 (J. Pearce. Stoker. H.M.S. "Tamar".), good very fine Estimate £ 200-240 John Pearce, born Cheltenham, 1845; served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry and the Royal Navy in H.M.S. Indus, Bellisle and Tamar; he served in the last, 4.1.1879 -3.9.1880, and was invalided to Haslar Hospital in September 1880. The Published Roll gives the entire crew of H.M.S. Tamar as entitled to no clasp awards only for the South Africa Wars 1877-79; however the medal appears entirely as issued.
