France, Merovingian, Aquitaine, AV Tremissis, 1.21g., 11mm., c.580/590-670, Bourges, moneyer Mummolus, helmeted head left, legend betorgas fit, rev. cross chrismée to left, dividing omega and alpha, mvmmol (---) (Bel.- (cf. 850, similar legend but different design); MEC-; Prou-), good very fine or better, well struck and in excellent condition, apparently unpublished Estimate £ 800-1,000 Found as a single find near Market Harborough in Leicestershire; this is an unusual find spot for Merovingian coins. Another coin of this moneyer is known from Bourges (Bel.850), but has a bust right and a cross dividing B-E on the reverse.
