1897 New Currency Surcharges Large Figures Surcharge, Wide Setting on Dowager First Print 30c. on 24ca. rose-red showing variety surcharge partly printed in the margin plus error of character type B, right pane [6] and used with 30c. on 24ca. Second Print on Maus red band cover to Germany, tied by Wuchow bilingual c.d.s. (6 June 1900) with Hong Kong 5c. blue pair and 50c. on 48c. purple cancelled by Hong Kong c.d.s. and Wuchow tie-print. A fine and important cover. Photo Estimate HK$ 20,000-25,000The adjacent block of four of this type I surcharge in margin is in the Chan Shih Jen collection [11/17]. It is also cancelled by Wuchow bilingual c.d.s. (8 June) and was originally on a Maus cover when sold from the David collection
