1897 New Currency Surcharges Small Figures Surcharge on Dowager First Print 1/2c. on 3ca. orange-yellow variety imperforate between vertical pair, unused with traces of gum; light even toning and foxed perf. S.G. 37b; Chan 37l. Photo Estimate HK$ 12,000-15,000provenance: Warren Kauder, November 1971 Our records show that this variety comes from the top rows of one original sheet (16 pairs) from setting A. We record eleven mint and one used pair. The surcharge tilts down from left to right; this example comes from the right hand sheet and appears to be [1/5] of the right hand pane of this sheet. There is also the variety imperforate between vertical strip of three (from the top three rows)
