Swatow-Chan Yeun Tai, unissued $10 ND (c.1914), Hong Kong Printing Press, purple and pale orange, canal and buildings at centre value at left and right, reverse green violet and orange, pagoda top centre value at each corner (P. -), large format paper, slight stain low left not encroaching on detail. Purple hand stamp CANCELLED and SPECIMEN from the Hong Kong Printing Press. Extremely fine and only a few examples believed extant. Ex archive of the Hong Kong Printing Press and one of only two pieces in the archive. Issued examples are unknown. Estimate HK$ 6,000-7,000The port of Swatow, just up the coast of Quangtung Province from Hong Kong, has long ties to Hong Kong. This likely explains why the majority of local bank and merchant notes issued in Swatow were printed in Hong Kong.
