China 1897 New Currency Surcharges LW1 1/2c. on 3ca. orange-yellow, small paper adherence on reverse, fresh and fine with full original gum. S.G. 48, Chan 47. Photo Estimate HK$ 20,000-25,000 This is a surprisingly scarce stamp. A study of the centring of the stamp and surcharge suggests that ther may well have been only four mint sheets (160) and four cancelled to order sheets (24 MAR 1897) plus the inverted surcharge sheet
