Hong Kong Treaty Ports Shanghai 1872 (13 July) large envelope registered to Brussels bearing 8c. bright orange (3) and 30c. mauve (4) tied by second type "S1" in blue with two "3/-" rate marks in red ink and showing a superb strike of "registered/shanghae" dated oval in red (four years earlier than the previous earliest recorded) with Hong Kong registered oval alongside. The reverse with a fair strike of The Great Norther Telegraph company oval, fine Shanghai despatch, Hong Kong, Brindisi and Brussels arrival c.d.s. A few peripheral faults barely detract from this important and colourful cover to an unusual destination. Photo.
