Hong Kong 1898 With Chinese Characters Large Character Fourth Printing: 10c. on 30c. grey-green variety surcharge double [10], unused without gum; a little discoloured and some adherences on reverse. Unique. R.P.S. Certificate (1992) (faded and stained). Photo Estimate HK$ 200,000-250,000The two surcharges are of equal intensity and struck very close together. As the example without Chinese character is also from the fourth printing and shows similar misplacement of the two surcharges, there is conjecture that both came from the same sheet, the right pane missing the Chinese handstamp (see lot 1091) Additional information about this variety is included with the lot
