x India 1805 (8 May) entire letter from the Second Maratha War from Camp Higomah to London (redirected to Edinburgh), the reverse with a faint strike of large oval "bengal/g.p.o./june /post paid" and London datestamp (26/12), the face with "2/2" rate mark and Edinburgh Bishop mark (30/12). Detailed contents give a vivid account of the conflict, including ,"...You may have succumbed to the same fate and James Sinclair and all the other officers of the battalion - every one of them cut to pieces" with grim and graphic detail.
