British and Indian Troops in Northern France A large cloth folder entitled BRITISH AND INDIAN TROOPS IN NORTHERN FRANCE/ 70 WAR SKETCHES by PAUL SARRUT 1914 1915, published by H. DELEPINE, Editeur, ARRAS, now containing some 55 fine monochrome etchings on 37 large sheets of brown paper 15in. x 111/2in. A note, signed in manuscript by the artist, on the title page explains that this is Copy No 11 of 250. Subjects include British, Indian and Gurkha troops in the field, in billets or under canvas, mainly on duty behind the lines, carrying out personal administration, or resting between tours of duty at the front. There are also portraits, both head and shoulders and full length, of officers and men, most of them named, either individually or in groups, and sketches of pipers, drummers, machine-gunners etc
