The Extremely Rare Three Clasp Undated Reverse British South Africa Company´s Medal to Captain T.J. ´Bins´ Christison, Salisbury Field Force, Late Salisbury Horse and Pioneer Corps British South Africa Company´s Medal 1890-97, undated reverse, three clasps, Mashonaland 1890, Matabeleland 1893, Rhodesia 1896 (Tpr. Christison, T.J. - Pioneers.), extremely fine, with (2) bronze Commemorative Medals for the Occupation of Matabeleland, for the 40th and 50th anniversary respectively (3) Estimate £ 1,800-2,200Captain Thomas James Christison, born Forfarshire, Scotland; moved to Capetown, South Africa 1883 where he served as Captain and Adjutant in the Capetown Highlanders; whilst in this capacity he met Cecil Rhodes and attested for the Company´s Police serving in ´B´ Troop before transferring to the Pioneer Corps (No. 164), 14.7.1890; Christison left the latter to become Mining Commissioner at Fort Salisbury before volunteering for duty in Manicaland during the Portuguese troubles (May 1891); with the outbreak of the Matabele War (1893) he served as a Lieutenant in ´C´ Troop, Salisbury Horse; after this conflict Christison was appointed Mining Commissioner of Bulawayo until March 1894; early in the following year he was posted to the Mines Office at Salisbury and subsequently made a Justice of the Peace in Mashonaland; his final service was as a Captain and Adjutant with the Salisbury Field Force during the Mashonaland Rebellion, 1896.
