x Canada General 1866-70, two clasps, Fenian Raid 1866, Fenian Raid 1870 (Sgt. E.P. Felton Sherbrooke. G.A.), extremely fine with the following original documentation: - Commission appointing E.P. Felton as Lieutenant, Sherbrooke Garrison Battery of Artillery, dated 13.9.1868 - contemporary copy of recipient´s Last Will and Testament Estimate £ 400-450Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Pellew Felton, born London, 1826; son of William Bowman Felton (Commissioner of Crown Lands), and as such nephew of Commander John Felton (see above lot); continuing in the Naval traditions of his uncle, his godfather was Admiral Sir Edward Pellew (Lord Exmouth), and well known publisher John Murray; the recipient joined Glackmeyer N.P. in Quebec as a notary, 1847, before moving to Sherbrooke and joining the Sherbrooke Garrison Battery of Artillery; Lieutenant 1.5.1868, ´and became Captain of the Sherbrooke Artillery, his company being called out in both Fenian Raids. A number of years later, on the retirement of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Ibbotson, he was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel of the 53rd Regiment, and having brought it to a high state of efficiency, retired in 1890.´ (Obituary in Sherbrooke Gazette February 1908 refers). Lieutenant Colonel E.P Felton died 2.22.1908. One compilation of the Canada General Service Medal Roll gives entitlement to first clasp only, however this is at variance with the obituary (see above) and the medal appears entirely as issued.
