Pearce initially served with the Queen´s Royal Regiment, attended Para Course 68, graduating in June 1943; served during the Second War with 6 Para (wounded) and jumped with them during Operation Dragon into Southern France; 6 Para, under the 2nd Para Brigade served in Palestine, October 1945 - December 1946.
