Slabbert, South African Army Medical Corps, One of Only Five Doctors to Serve in Korea with the SAAF; He Was Later One of the Founders of the South African Navy´s Medical Branch South African Medal for Korea (Kapt. C.J. Slabbert); South African Permanent Force Good Service, officially numbered ´1120´; United Nations Korea (Kapt. C.J. Slabbert); South Korean Service Medal, unnamed as issued, good very fine and rare, together with a photograph of the recipient (4) Estimate £ 700-750Colonel Christiaan Johannes Slabbert (1921-1971), commissioned Medical Officer with the rank of Second Lieutenant 30.12.1948; served as Medical Officer on H.M.S.A.S. Transvaal during its visit to Australia 1950; promoted Lieutenant December 1950; Captain 1952. Served with the SAAF in Korea with No. 2 Squadron (the ´Flying Cheetahs´) as Medical Officer. Appointed Senior Medical Officer (Navy) on the formation of the Navy Medical Branch; Major 1958; Commandant 1962; Colonel 1965; Appointed Assistant Surgeon General (Navy) 1965, and was still a serving officer at the time of his death.
