Simpson, R.A.), with contemporary Hunt & Roskell silver riband buckle, with gold retaining pin; France, Second Empire, Legion of Honour, Chevalier´s breast Badge, silver, gold centre, enamel, and high relief crown suspension, enamel damage, with contemporary Hunt & Roskell silver riband buckle; Turkish Crimea, Sardinian die, (Major W.H.R. Simpson. R.A.), contemporarily engraved in upright serif capitals, with ring suspension, and contemporary silver riband buckle with gold retaining pin, very fine, with (4) associated miniature awards, these mounted for wear (8) Estimate £ 900-1,100Major-General William Henry Randolph Simpson, born 1830; Ensign Royal Artillery, 1847; Lieutenant 1848; Captain 1855; served in the Crimea (1854-55), at the battle of Inkermann, siege of Sebastopol, in the trenches with the siege train, and the bombardments of 17th October and 9th April (Brevet Major); served as a Senior Officer with the 4th Brigade Royal Artillery in Canada (1866); Lieutenant-Colonel 1872; Colonel 1877; retired Honory Major-General 1880.
