A Great War ´Western Front´ Casualty D.C.M. Pair to Sergeant A. Kennedy, Royal Scots Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R (13106 L. Cpl. A. Kennedy. 11/R.Scots.); British War Medal (13106 Sjt. A. Kennedy. R. Scots), very fine or better (2) Estimate £ 480-520D.C.M. London Gazette 2.12.1919 13106 L. Cpl A. Kennedy 11th Bn. Royal Scots (Hawick), ´On the 28th September 1918, at Hanebeke, when a shell exploded amongst a platoon, killing ten men and wounding him, he carried on in his duties of dressing the wounded, and refused to be attended to until all others were dressed. He was wounded again next day but refused to leave the field, and did most excellent work in dressing wounded under heavy fire. Throughout he showed marked courage and devotion to duty.´ 1306 Sergeant Andrew Kennedy, D.C.M., served during the Great War with the 11th Battalion Royal Scots, in the French theatre of operations from, 11.5.1915.
