x A 20th Century Baronet´s Badge, United Kingdom, silver-gilt and enamel (Hallmarks for London 1929), reverse engraved ´Poe of Heywood, 1912´, nearly extremely fine, with ´evening collar´, in case of issue Estimate £ 550-650Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Hutcheson Poe, Bt., [C.B.] (1848-1934), 1st Baronet of Heywood (created 1912); born Donaghadee, County Down; educated privately and at the Royal Naval Academy, Gosport; commissioned Royal Marine Light Infantry, 1867; served in H.M.S. Royal Sovereign on the North American and West Indian Stations before appointed command of the Royal Marine detachment on Ascension Island, 1878; officer commanding Royal Marine detachment, H.M.S. Boadicea on the Cape of Good Hope Station, 1880-81; during the conflict in Egypt (1882-89) Poe commanded two Royal Marine Companies attached to the Guards Camel Corps and was present at the Battle of El-Teb (wounded and Mentioned in Despatches) and the action at Metemmah (during which he was wounded again and subsequently lost his leg; Mentioned in Despatches); entitled to Egypt Medal with ´El-Teb´, ´The Nile 1884-85´, ´Abu-Klea´ clasps (created C.B. 1885); served with Naval Intelligence Department, 1886-88; retired Lieutenant-Colonel 1888; with the outbreak of the Great War Poe re-engaged with the Naval Medical Bureau, Egypt, 1915-16; before being attached to the French Red Cross, 1916-19 (entitled to Reconnaissance Medal, Second Class); H.M. Lieutenant for Queen´s County and Senator of the Irish Free State, 1922-25.
