x 1861-70 No Watermark, Rough perf. 14 to 16 Covers 1867 (1 Dec.) small mourning soldier´s envelope to Nottingham, headed "From Army Schoolmaster F. Porter", countersigned "F.N. Cross Capt., Commanding 2/16th Regt", bearing (1d.) blue (surface abrasion at upper left) cancelled by bootheel "1", showing red crayon "1", red London Paid c.d.s. and, on reverse, despatch and arrival (30.12) datestamps; the envelope with 25mm. tear towards left and with part of flap missing.
