Auction: 6021 - Great Britain Stamps & Covers
Lot: 144
x Great Britain Postal History Ireland 1829 (22 Apr.) "Window Man" receipt form for the sum of 2/3d., initialled "AB" (Arthur Baker, appointed Post Office Clerk in 1819); the design just clipped at left though otherwise complete. Fine, attractive and extremely rare. Note: Whilst the "Window Man" was a Post Office employee, he was widely viewed as being just another expression of the unfair British taxation system implimented in Ireland - his job was to levy taxes based upon how many windows any house had.
